Are Teen Treatment Facilities Private and Discreet?
One person’s view of what constitutes as private and discreet will often deviate from another’s, as they are both subjective terms. Attending a treatment program can accompany any number of emotions and can leave both teenager and his or her loved ones feeling vulnerable and exposed. The treatment process will be an all-encompassing experience, and for many to fully commit to the program, discretion is of utmost importance. For this reason, many teen treatment facilities are intended to be as private and discreet as possible. However, most residential teen treatment facilities are group treatment programs, which makes it impossible for them to be entirely private, as other teenagers are present. Some facilities will implement certain regulations that provide additional protection to safeguard its resident’s privacy.
Gathering as much information as possible is integral to making an informed decision regarding which teen treatment facility will be the best fit. At Pacific Teen Treatment, for example, we offer an excellent residential treatment program that honors, respects, and prioritizes our client’s privacy. We recognize that there is no universal method of treatment that works for every teen struggling with a mental health ailment and/ or addiction, as each teen has distinct contributing factors that must be considered. We work with each of our residents to create a tailored and unique treatment plan, catering specifically to each teen’s personal and nuanced recovery needs, to ensure the best possible outcome. Some of the therapeutic modalities we incorporate into our treatment plans include talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), expressive arts therapy and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). There are some teens that, in addition to therapy, may require medication. If medication is deemed necessary, we always make sure to consult with parents both for permission and continued involvement in the treatment process along with the most qualified professionals in adolescent psychiatry. We are also mindful of various holistic approaches to addiction and mental health treatment. We encourage our residents to explore the practices of yoga and/ or meditation to help supplement the other therapeutic modalities. It is important to us that we help our residents learn to integrate restorative and healthy eating, exercising, and sleeping habits as a part of their recovery process. Laying the foundation for a healthy lifestyle is crucial for continued, long-term success.
